Tony trained as a Naval Architect Surveyor with Lloyd's Register of Shipping whilst completing his degree course.

In 1979 Tony co-founded TMC (Marine Consultants) Ltd as Managing Director and a practising Naval Architect. Since then Tony has accumulated a wealth of experience covering the full scope of marine consultancy. Recently Tony has advised, carried out technical investigations and acted as expert witness on many marine casualties and disputes including: stranding, marine salvage, total loss, newbuilding & conversion projects, including ferry/drill ship, hatch cover leakage and maintenance, container loss/collapsed container stow, anchor/mooring problems/unsafe berth, collisions/speed and angle of blow, constructive total loss, flooding/stability/damage stability, structural failure and design and construction of aluminium catamaran passenger ferries.

In 1986 Tony co-founded and became Managing Director of Shipboard Informatics Ltd, a company producing marine software approved by all the leading Classification Societies for use on board all types of merchant ships.

Tony stepped down from managing director in February 2011, but remains chairman of the board of directors.
