Yusuf Soomro

Yusuf spent 21 years at sea, including 5 years in command of Panamax and geared handy size bulk carriers where he was involved in the carriage of a variety of bulk cargoes (coal, grain, ores and steel products) on a world- wide basis. He then came ashore in 2001 to complete a Master of Science degree in Maritime Operations. 

Upon graduation, he took up a position with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a Marine Surveyor in 2002, where he acquired an in-depth knowledge of regulatory surveys, inspections and certification. In 2005, he joined CMA CGM as a Safety and Security Manager where he was responsible for a fleet of 11 container vessels, implementing the ISM and ISPS Codes.

More recently, Yusuf has spent the last 5 years with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch, investigating all types of marine accidents, including collisions, groundings, near- misses, contacts with fixed floating objects, foundering, and occupational injuries.

Yusuf has also has experience on general cargo, mini bulk carriers and Ro-Ro vessels carrying a variety of packaged, project and bulk cargoes.

Yusuf Joined TMC (Marine Consultants) Ltd. in December 2011 as a Marine Consultant.
