Mike Vanstone

Master Mariner, AFNI

Mike is an experienced Master Mariner with Class 1 (11/2) Certificate of Competency and 35 years experience in the marine industry.  He was at sea for 24 years during the period 1976-2003 on a variety of offshore vessels including: cable ships, pipe layers, dive support vessels, platform supply vessels and well service ships and for his last 12 years held high ranking positions of Cable Officer, Chief Officer and Master.  Following a three year spell ashore from 1993-1996 as a training manager and superintendent, he came ashore permanently in 2003 and has since worked in the offshore sector at a senior level.  During his 11 years ashore, he has been involved with most offshore vessel types in the following roles: Senior Marine Superintendent / Senior Marine Surveyor / Marine Technical Superintendent / Warranty Surveyor.
